2007 Acura RL Review

As powerful as it is luxurious, the 2007 Acura RL comes with a 290 horsepower V6 engine and a five-speed automatic transmission that uses Acura's "SportShift" technology to give the driver control over gear selection it even has paddle shifters mounted on the steering column. In addition, it comes with all-wheel drive, assisted steering, and an non-skid braking system that also includes high-friction brake pads.

Available in three trim levels, with the MSRP for the base model starting at $45,780, the RL has a suave exterior that features a motorized sun roof with a slant feature, fog lights, and automatic on/off headlights, fog-proof mirrors which remember driver positioning, lit door handles, an invisible antenna, heat-proof emerald-tinted glass, and a timed rear window defogger.

The RL's interior is crammed with comfort and convenience features, including a hands-free cellular phone interface and multi-zone climate control. There is also a full media package that includes a 10-speaker surround sound system from Bose, as well as a a 6 disc cd changer with AM/FM radio and MP3 playback. Other features include tiller mounted controls for the throttle control system as well as the electronics and entertainment systems, and an motorized adjustable steering column with driver setting memory. The included features continue, adding motorized windows and door locks, a pedometer, front door cubbies, and cup holders. After that, the rear side sunshades, and 12-volt power outlets.

Acura doesn't overlook safety, either. The RL's safety features include sequential front airbags, and shotgun front airbags that disarm in the absence of a front-seat passenger. Head protection airbags are present as well, as are race car safety belts at all seating positions, anchors and tethers for child seats, and mirror-embedded turn signals. Finally, there is a vehicle stability system that offers skid control.

Comfort, convenience, and power, and estimated fuel efficiency of 18 mpg (city) and 26 (highway), make the 2007 Acura RL an excellent choice in luxury sedans.
