2008 Ford F-250 Super Duty 2WD Review

For the coming model year the 2008 Ford Super Duty series offers a wide range of choices including three styles of cab (regular, super, and crew) and two bed lengths. Buyers can pick from a range of ten wheels, add an optional tailgate step or bed extender (stowable), and the line incorporates power-fold, telescoping side mirrors.

Engine choices in the Super Duty series include a 5.4 liter, 3-valve Triton V8 producing 300 horsepower at 5000 rpm; a 6.8-liter, 3-valve Triton V10 generating 362 horsepower at 4750 rpm; and a 6.4-liter turbo diesel V8 producing 350 horsepower at 3000 rpm. (Both six speed manual and five speed automatic transmissions are available.) Towing capacities vary by configuration. Curb weights range from 5633 lbs. (regular cab, short bed) to 6152 lb. (crew cab, long bed).

Inside Ford has brought the Super Duty trucks more in line with the F-150s, including optional dual-zone controls for the interior climate, an MP3 player connection, and on applicable body models a rear-seat DVD entertainment package. (Available interior amenities vary by trim package.)

In both 2WD and 4WD models regular cabs offer 77.4 cubic feet in the cargo box; SWB Super Cab models have 64.4 cu. ft.; Super Cab LWB 69.3 cu. ft.; Crew Cab SWB 69.3 cu. ft.; and Crew Cab LWB 69.3.

All trucks in the series include comprehensive airbag protection, all wheel anti-lock brakes, safety belts, and anchoring for child safety seats. The 2008 Ford F-250 has an MSRP range of $22,380 to $39,460 depending on configuration.

A bed extender is really a nice feature especially if you use your truck for hauling cargo. You might also need a wider tonneau cover to protect your loads
