2008 Mazda RX-8 Review

The Mazda RX-8 features the industry's only RENESIS rotary engine and the vehicle's forward thinking details include freestyle doors lending the soul of a sports car to a functional and roomy four-seater. The RX-8 offers three models: the Sport ($27,030), the Touring ($30,130), and the Grand Touring ($31,665).

The 1.3 liter RENESIS two-rotor engine is available as a six-speed automatic with paddle shifters for manual gear selection, or as a six-speed manual with overdrive. The automatic returns 212 hp, the manul 232. Estimated fuel consumption for the automatic is 18 city, 25 highway; for the manual 18/24.

The Sport edition has an AM/FM/CD combo with six speakers standard with the higher models shifting to a Bose 9-speaker 300 watt system. SIRIUS satellite sadio with a one-year subscription is an option on all models.

Standard safety options on the 2008 Mazda RX-8 include front and side curtain driver and front passenger air bags, an alarm with an immobilizer, a tire pressure monitoring system, and anti-lock brakes Traction Control is standard on the Touring models.
