2007 Ford Freestyle Review

The 2007 Ford Freestyle SEL and Limited models carry a respective MSRP of $26,670 and $29,955. The six to seven passenger vehicle has a measurable cargo volume of 91.7 cubic feet when all seats are placed in a folded position including the front passenger seat.

Powered by a three-liter V6 generating 203 horsepower, the Freestyle with front wheel drive brings in 20 mpg city and 27 highway while the all-wheel drive registers 19/24. All-wheel disc brakes are standard and the transmission is a continuously variable unit with a single catalyst system for the exhaust.

An AM/FM/CD combo is standard on the SEL with the Limited adding a changer capable of handling six discs and offering MP3 playback capability in an Audiophile unit with a sub-woofer. An entertainment system for DVD playback is optional on both models but cannot coexist with the optional SIRIUS Satellite Radio. Other options include a navigation based on DVDs, a sensor for vehicle back-up, and a garage door opener (with universal compatibility) on the Limited edition.

The 2007 Ford Freestyle includes enhanced protection for the cabin as a standard feature on all models. The vehicle uses comprehensive coverage with two-stage airbags outfitted with sensors to detect the severity of a crash and the position of the driver's seat.
