2008 Mitsubishi Outlander Review

The 2008 Mitsubishi Outlander SUV is available in three models as both 2WD and 4WD vehicles. The ES 2WD has an MSRP of $21,370, the LS 2WD $22,410 (4WD $23,770), and the XLS 2WD $23,650 (4WD $25,010). All models are outfitted with a 24-valve, 3 liter, 220 horsepower MIVEC engine, and come with a six-speed automatic transmission. Estimated mileage figures for the front-wheel drive models are 20 city and 27 highway with the all-wheel drive version showing 19/26.

The ES and LS models seat five with the XLS holding seven. Headroom in all models is 40.3 inches front and 38.3 rear. Overall passenger volume is 100.4 cubic feet with cargo volume at 72.6. Standard safety measures include advanced front airbags with occupant seat position sensors, side curtain bags for head protection in side-impact collisions, and extra front-seat airbags which offer upper-body protection, as well as anti-lock brakes, active skid control, and a tire pressure monitoring system.

The standard audio package on the 2008 Mitsubishi Outlander is a 140-watt CD/MP3 player with six speakers. The XLS has the same system with a six-CD changer. The premium audio option is a 650-watt Rockford-Fosgate six-CD/MP3 player with nine speakers, a digital sound processor, and SIRIUS satellite radio with a six-month contract.
