Panasonic Lumix DMC FZ7 Review

Panasonic Lumix DMC FZ7 digital camera
With the introduction of the Panasonic Lumix DMC FZ7, Panasonic offer a truly worthy successor of the FZ5 camera. Its predecessor was already well received, but did leave room for improvement in certain areas. The Panasonic FZ7 has turned out to be a commendable digital camera that leaves only very little room for improvement. The model has a lot to offer, and its compact design and well-balanced, clever concept make it a conspicuous player in the current competitive market. Noteworthy assets such as the 12x optical zoom and the optical image stabiliser are used to their fullest effect by the Panasonic Lumix FZ7, and offer the user a powerful tool to work with.

Panasonic Lumix DMC-LZ5 Review

Panasonic Lumix DMC-LZ5 - Superb digital camera
At the end of the tests, the Panasonic LZ5 leaves us with a pleasant and particularly positive feeling. For its price-tag, the camera offers the consumer a great deal of ease and functionality. The novice photographer will undoubtedly feel happy as a king with so much user convenience. It is impressive to see how Panasonic manage to integrate the MEGA O.I.S. into all their digital cameras. This feature is a truly valuable asset of the LUMIX digital camera. The Panasonic Lumix DMC LZ5 is a superb digital camera for those who consider themselves novice digital photographers, but do desire that little bit extra from the zoom range. All in all, the Panasonic LZ5 forms an excellent first step to a future advanced camera - and who knows, perhaps even to a future (Panasonic) D-SLR camera?

Panasonic Lumix DMC TZ1 Review

Panasonic TZ1 Megazoom - Attractive digital camera
Personally, I think that the Panasonic Lumix TZ1 is a very good digital Mega zoom camera to take along as a second camera. The compact format, the optical image stabilizer and the well organized user interface are a nice combination to work with. I have already written about and experienced that once you've worked with a digital camera equipped with an optical image stabilizer like the MEGA O.I.S. you won't ever want to go without. The Panasonic Lumix TZ1 is not totally free of faults, but the scales definitely come down on the positive side. As a camera for starters or a second camera, the combination of a 10x optical Leica zoom and MEGA O.I.S. make the Panasonic Lumix TZ1 an attractive package.

Panasonic Lumix DMC FZ50 Review

Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ50 Megazoom camera
The Panasonic Lumix FZ50 camera is already Panasonic's fourth FZ10-series Megazoom camera, the FZ40 never existed. It has to be said the step from FZ20 to the FZ30 was quite a leap indeed. The step to the Lumix FZ50 isn't quite as large, yet every bit as remarkable. This isn't just related to the higher resolution of 10 Megapixels. The ten Megapixel resolution is in fact a "logical" upgrade of the segment high resolution compact cameras. As far as efficiency is concerned, however, the resolution boost doesn't really add that much. The increased resolution results in the fact that the pixels on the sensor have even become smaller, which certainly affects the quality of the pixel itself. Consequently, Panasonic have had to resort to severe measures to fight negative effects such as noise. The increase is in fact marginal, which means you will not be able to make a sudden leap forward in print size.

Panasonic Lumix DMC-L1 Review

Panasonic Lumix DMC L1 digital reflexcamera
Panasonic show they are realistic. They know they will not instantly become a market leader. After all, the market will need to get used to them, and Panasonic will in turn have to learn a thing or two about this "new market". This strategy of building things up slowly and unhurriedly is something I can certainly appreciate. It indicates Panasonic intend to take things seriously, and are keen to go for the long-term run. They know the L1 will not be an instant sales hit, but that isn't the concept of this type of product in the first place. Their decision to start off with an almost high-end model is thus a wise choice. The statement is clear: Panasonic have made their entrée, and this is their business card!

Panasonic Lumix DMC FZ8 Review

Panasonic Lumix DMC FZ8 Megazoom digital camera
Panasonic set the tone for the Panasonic Lumix DMC FZ8 when it won an international DIWA Gold Award for its predecessor. The results from our practical test soon showed that the Panasonic FZ8 is a worthy successor. Although there is still room for improvement, it looks as if the Panasonic Lumix FZ8 Megazoom camera has grown up. By providing RAW format, Panasonic is showing that it takes digital photography seriously. This camera is a serious option for consumers who feel they have outgrown their compact camera and are ready for a DSLR. I'm not saying that the Panasonic FZ8 is a perfect replacement for a digital SLR, but it is able to put up quite some competition.
